Maurice River Bluffs in the Fall

Hiked:

Checking out the new Yellow trail in perfect fall weather.

In the years since we’d been to the Bluffs, two new trails had been added – YELLOW and ORANGE.

We were down in south Jersey visiting friends and needed a short hike so we headed over to the Bluffs to check out YELLOW.

Miles: 3.2

Route: BLUE – RED – WHITE (not the whole loop) – YELLOW LOOP – WHITE (not the whole loop) – RED – BLUE

For detailed hike info visit our main “Maurice River Bluffs” page.

It seemed like the parking lot was larger than it was when we last visited (“Maurice River Bluffs and Parvins State Park“).

The trail kiosk had a huge map of the preserve, but I’ve yet to find a map online and the glass makes taking a usable pic of it a bit tough.

We headed out on BLUE to RED, briefly taking WHITE to pick up the YELLOW loop.

Steps have been added in some areas and there are a few man-made ‘hills’ (likely leftover from days past), so the trail is pretty interesting.

Some views of the Maurice River are along the trails.

Towards the end of YELLOW is spurt of water, marked “artisanal spring”.

The return loop of YELLOW seemed less traveled and had some road noise. It was a perfect fall day yet we saw only one couple on the trails.
