16 miles round trip; south from the Rocky Hill parking area.
Fourth of July weekend was so perfect out, we got to fit in another day of outdoor fun. After hiking 11 miles the day before in Wawayanda, we opted for an easy ride in our favorite biking spot – The Delaware and Raritan Canal towpath…
While we tend to take long or challenging hikes, our biking is of the “comfort bike” variety, and not mountain or road biking. So the towpath is perfect for us. Lots of walkers and joggers, but otherwise it’s easy cruisin’ on a dirt path. (some stones or gravel in select spots).
The towpath runs along the main canal from New Brunswick thru Princeton to Trenton, then along the feeder canal to Lambertville and ends in Frenchtown. Lots of great trips to put together on either segment.

There are also locations along the canal to rent canoes and kayaks. Super easy paddling on the calm canal, and lots of fun. Great for kids.
